Maestrale is Italian for the strong mistral winds that blow through the northern Mediterranean.
Ruby to medium garnet in color this medium to full bodied Bordeaux-style blend incorporates all five Bordeaux grapes: 56% Merlot followed by Cabernet Franc 14%, Petit Verdot 12%, Malbec 10% and Cabernet Sauvignon 8%.
This fruit forward blend is soft and velvety. A medium alcohol elixir, it has a complex, layered finish hinting at lightly toasted French oak.
The grapes for Maestrale were sourced exclusively from the Rattlesnake Hills AVA near Yakima, Washington. After hand-harvesting, sorting and destemming,they were brought to San Diego to vinify.
Aged 30 months in French oak barrels.
